DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS FOR OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

Abstract


The limiting factors in designing optical telecommunication systems, namely, optical fiber attenuation loss and optical fiber nonlinear effects, especially inelastic nonlinear effects, have not been fully analyzed and understood despite a rich collection of literature dealing with fiber nonlinearities and their effects on fiber optic communication systems.
